This is a wonderful example very close to a rug that Wright and Wertime identify as Lezghi or possibly Tabasar. Wright, Richard. Wertime, John. Caucasian Carpets and Covers.Detail page 51, plate III page 58. Tabasar is a dialect of Lezghi so I am placeing the two together as divisions of one fairly hetrogeneous group. The primary difference between this one and the Wright and Wertime example is that tis one has blue octagons in the medallions and theirs has alternating blue and white. Wright and Wertime describe theirs as having dovetail tapistry weave and eccentric wefts and as being related structurally to the Dums.
