but where is this rug from? This rug is from a group
generally called the Small Silk Kashan rugs.

Kashan? Not likely but where is this rug from? This rug
is part of a small group of about 16 silk rugs of similar
age, style, and construction.
I have come to the conclusion that on the basis of
comparission with the art of Persia and by comparision
with other known rugs than these rugs are sixteenth
century and certainly predate the the reign of Shah Abbas
I (1587 - 1629).
