The Lovers
Plate 67. Persia, Circa mid
16th century, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
La Miniature En Orient by
Ernst Kuhnel 1925
Miniature formerly in the
Goloubew collection. The young lovers also appear alone alone (c.f.
Martin pl.107). An attribution to Ustad Mohammadi the son of Sultan
Mohammed seems justified. Martin thought this was a copy in the style
of Aqa Mirak
Translator's Note: While the
sashes are in the style of Mohammadi an attribution to that artist is
no longer thought most applicable. Stuart Cary Welch attributed this
miniature to Mirza Ali circa 1565 - 1570 1.

Pleas note (above) that in the period prior to
moving to Mashad and Sabsavar Mirza Ali drew more realistic necks.
While in his Khorasan period (left) necks become thinner less natural.
