Wendel Swan's comments:
It is interesting to note that the medallions and some of the filler
motifs in The Textile Museum Karapinar are outlined in brown or black,
a technique that is not normally found in the "kilim-style" Karapinars.
Although this is a very minor factor, it may suggest that the weaver or
weavers were not entirely accustomed to working in the kilim-style and
that while they could normally follow the kilim-style technique, they
strayed when inserting minor devices with which they may have been more
familiar.

Thanks and best wishes,
