Yuruk Kurdish Rug, East Turkey, 19th century

Origin: Eastern Anatolia

Sizes: 281 cm. x 105 cm.

Description: This is a Kurdish carpet from a mountain village in eastern Anatolia, with a characteristic composition of four rectangular fields in brown and red. They include a massive, multi-interlaced hooked cross with a prominent cross-beam in the middle. A white strip frames both the entire inner panel and the four compartments. The piece is made of very good wool and radiates with nice colors. This is an interesting and genuine collector’s item. There are slight traces of use in the pile, but the rug is well preserved. Original pages still available; ends somewhat shortened.
