Persian Shahsavan Mafrash Panel detail

This panel is a Shahsavan Mafrash panel from the Khamseh region. North of Hamadan, east of Kordestan, west of Qazvin, The traditional capitol Khamseh is Zanjan. The cruciform medallions repeating in the field are related to Sumac Bags plate 12. The main border is related to Sumac Bags plate 12 and 13. The S cartouche minor border is related to Sumac Bags plate 20. There is also a related example published in Housego, Jenny. Tribal Rugs plate 33 and attributed to the Shahsavan of Khamseh.
